Why?
Big Picture….Calls for greater gender equality in leadership and wages have been ongoing and despite some progress, there remains a fundamental lack of women in leadership roles (e.g. in the Fortune 500 list in America, only 15% of CEOs are women; on a global level women hold only 38% of leadership roles). This is despite evidence and research that organisations thrive and out-perform their competitors when they have prominent female leaders from board level throughout management and a strong pipeline of diverse talent from which to tap.
In your organisation this means you may have…
Competent managers who are afraid to speak up in meetings to present perspectives and improvements
Insecure managers who are not addressing performance issues in their team
Indecisive leaders worried about taking responsibility
Lots of time in meetings and less time in productive work because managers are struggling to set boundaries and maintain priorities
Absentee high performers due to stress
Employees who say yes to anything asked of them by peers or clients and then cannot deliver
Lack of delegation as managers run themselves into the ground without training/upskilling their team
Managers who are not giving or asking for feedback/clear measures of success
Stalled or slow movement on projects and services and a lack of results
Lack of trust within teams and departments
How do we change that?
1 - Companies/organisations need to examine their bias/policies/salaries/opportunities for women.
2 - Women need support to overcome barriers around being a minority with lack of role models and mentors, persistent stereotypes, explicit and implicit shaming, balancing work and caregiving and lower expectations.
This leadership program is designed to support rising women leaders to expand their presence, sense of self, influence, expertise and impact with evidence based tools and practices and examine the real world social barriers and complexity involved in female leadership.
It often is not possible to engage with, learn and master leadership skills while focused on day-to-day responsibilities in the workplace with demanding clients, tight deadlines, big projects and escalations. Professional development programs give participants the opportunity to take time away from the day-to-day to concentrate on critical leadership skills.
