DANCE BABY DANCE!
One of the practices I LOVE and often invite my badass clients to try is kitchen dancing. I made that term up. It just means putting your favourite song on and shaking your ass. While the kettle is boiling. Before dinner. After a conference call. Whenever.
These are some of the reasons I love this as a practice ..
- there is NO “right” way to boogie
- the average song is about 3 minutes long so this short practice feels do-able (most of my clients are busy women who don't have time for 90 minute pleasure practices..although those are amazing too)
- movement uses up our stress hormones..so this is literally stress management in action
- dance increases levels of the feel-good hormone serotonin AND it helps develop new neural connections, especially in the brain regions involved in executive function, long-term memory, and spatial recognition (this is for my fellow brain nerds)
- it is FREE - no fancy equipment or membership needed!
So, blast those tunes and don't put yourself in the corner (nobody puts baby in a corner).
